Navajo Style Sterling Silver Ring Turquoise Feather Split Shank Size 6 1/4

This pre-loved sterling silver and turquoise ring boasts a large oval stone set in a strip bezel, with a silver rope, feather, and dew drop accents. It measures about 1" in total length. On the inside of the band it is stamped with "VL". This may be a hallmark or the initials of the previous owner. The stone is a flat cab which measures 18mm long by 10mm wide. It has a red-brown matrix and is polished to a smooth finish.

As stated above, this ring is pre-owned and shows minor signs of wear. I performed both a "hot-needle" test and a "scratch" test on the stone. Turquoise is a semi-soft stone with a rank of 5 to 6 on the Mohs scale of hardness, often requiring stabilization (polymer or wax) for jewelry use. The ring is not stamped to indicate the purity of the metal, but I tested the metal with a GTE silver acid test. The results (red) indicate sterling silver. The metal is also not magnetic.
