Carved from onyx, this classic guarding lion figure projects vitality and strength. The subtle banding of the gemstone gives depth and interest. Perfect size for a bookshelf display or desk decor.
Dates mid century, most likely from Mexico. This stone goes by several names, including Mexican onyx and banded calcite.
There is a small chip in base at back corner, and two very small chips on edge of base, let two photos
One back paw and front paw are a little loose, origional glue dried up, still fastenrd pretty sturdy. I did not try to reglue as I did not want to devalue it.
