ONE OWNER-This is an original cookie jar purchased and owned by my grandmother.
This hard-to-find mid-century era vintage McCoy cookie jar is the shape of the NASA Mercury Friendship 7 spacecraft flown by astronaut John Glenn on the first crewed American orbital flight. The cookie jar was produced in the mid 1960s.
This jar is in great condition. It has no chips, cracks, or flea bites in the pottery. The glaze is vivid and glossy black paint with no crazing. Lettering paint is in great condition without wear. These McCoy jars were hand-painted and each one is slightly different in the saturation of the coloring of the trims. No odors and comes from a smoke-free home.
The jar measures 12 inches tall with the lid on, and 8 inches without the lid. The bottom of the base is about 7.5 inches across.
