Vintage Manon 10x50 porro - an interesting score
Unlike my last vintage bino purchase (Binolux 7x50), this time I SCORED.
Right out of the box, I knew I had lucked onto a good binocular. They have a substantial feel to them. Quite heavy. Black pebblegrain finish, as usual, but a very nice application of it. Tight, perfect, no ripples, noticeable seams, or flaws in the covering. Which also spoke for how well the binoculars were maintained. The binocular and the case are in near-pristine condition. Whoever owned these took care to keep them protected from abuse. But the real test was the lenses...
100% scratch free. This made me jump for joy (again) ...
There are some minor spots on the coatings, but nothing major, and nothing that would indicate anything other than a 30+ year old binocular that was well-maintained. The biggest surprise is the coatings themselves.
