A Scandinavian style adze characterized by it's transverse edge. The adze is an impressive beauty made of the highest quality Swedish steel available. The adze, or tväryxa as it is traditionally called, is basically like a larger gouge you can chop with. It has a number of woodworking uses such as hollowing out timber, making troughs, & special notchwork. The large gutter adze is usually kept for when the user is standing over the material or logs, chopping between the legs. Adze weighs 3-3/4 lb. & includes a grain leather sheath.Each axe head is hand-forged from special Swedish steel which is then honed, tempered, & annealed to the perfect hardness by the experienced Gränfors Bruk Swedish smiths who stamp their initials on the head, creating a one-of-a-kind masterpiece you'll treasure for years to come.
