From the Sulu Archipelago region this is a well preserved memorial statue or sunduk (grave marker) from an unknown male. It more than likely was sitting atop some sort of boat and used as a memorial to the deceased. Carved from one piece of ironwood, this heavy sunduk is a great decoration to any home or business. It measures approximately 26 in tall without the stand and 8 inches in diameter. Estimated to have been made in the mid to late 19th century.
