This is an adorable shiny black straw fedora from the fashionable 1940s'! The crown is low, slants down towards the back and is indented at the top. The medium width brim is turned up at the back and turned down at the front. At one side of the crown there are beautiful ivory fabric flowers pls a very creative trim made of intricately folded grosgrain. This hat is to be worn in a tilted position to partially cover one eye, according to the fashion trends of the era. There is an elastic band attached to the inside of the hat to keep it in a tilted position.Tilt hats were popular in the 1930s and 1940s. They were worn at an angle and held to the back of the head by a strap, rigid ring, elastic band beneath the hair, an extended cap, or a combination of these. There is no designer label, indicating it was a custom-made creation.This is an authentic piece of fashion history! This hat is in wonderful vintage condition & has been lovingly preserved among over 1300 vintage hats we have collected for 40+ years. Feathers, straw, furs, flowers & veils are fragile, given their age. Mannequin not for sale.
